The Red Carpet

A carpet arrived at Micchan’s room from a carpet shop.

A red, round, and fluffy one.

“Meow.”

Tom the cat snuggled down.

“How cozy.”

Micchan also lied down.

Oh? Ah.

“It’s floating.”

“Why?”

“This red carpet can fly.”

“How is this possible?”

“Hey, Red Carpet, can you go outside?”

Micchan asked and the red carpet flew out through the window.

The red carpet is floating in the sky.

Micchan and Tom could see every corner of their town.

“Wow.”

“This is amazing.”

/

/

“Where should we go?”

Tom asked.

“I want to go to the moon and the stars.”

Micchan said, and

the red carpet flew up into the sky.

“It’s like a rocket.”

Swoosh!

Above the sky was a dark night.

In the blackness, they saw the moon and the stars.

In the distance, there was a round, burning star.

“It’s the Sun.”

“We’re gonna get burned.”

Micchan looked down.

“The Earth where Tom and I came from.”

“It’s blue.”

/

/

“Tom, hold on to the carpet.”

“Woah, my body’s floating.”

Micchan grabbed the red carpet.

Tom hooked his claws on the carpet.

“Red Carpet, take us back to the sky.”

The red carpet descended.

Swish!

/

/

They came down to the sky and saw a mountain.

“A white mountain.”

“There’s snow.”

The red carpet went down to the mountains.

The mountain was covered in white snow.

In the distance, people were skiing.

“Red Carpet, can you slide?”

The red carpet plumps down onto the snow and starts sliding.

“A sled.”

Whooosh

They slid down the mountain and reached the river, where it was raining.

“Oh no, we’ll get wet.”

Pop

The red carpet

spread over Micchan and Tom.

“You’re an umbrella now.”

Cats from the riverside rushed over.

They took shelter from the rain under the carpet.

The rain stopped

and the cats went away from the umbrella.

“A rainbow.”

“I want a lollipop candy like that.”

Tom said, and Micchan felt the same.

“Let’s head to the town.”

The red carpet floated on the river.

“You can be a boat too.”

The red carpet sailed down the river.

Soon they found tent.

A woman was doing her laundry.

“Hello.”

“Hi there.”

“Are you camping?”

“It’s my home.”

The woman picked up the laundry and stood up.

“There, time for snack.

Would you like to join me?”

“Yes.! “

/

/

They had some tea and snacks at the tent-house.

“Have you always lived here?”

“Yeah, quite a while.”

“Aren’t you cold?”

“It’s cold in the winter.”

Micchan and Tom were full.

“Thank you for the snacks.”

“You’re welcome.”

/

/

Micchan stepped outside the tent.

The red carpet was waiting there curled up.

Micchan hugged the red carpet tightly.

“Thank you, Red Carpet.”

/

/

Micchan went back to the tent with the red carpet.

“Ma’am, I want to give you this carpet.”

“You don’t need to thank me.”

The red carpet spread out flat.

“The carpet wants to stay here too.”

/

/

Micchan and Tom went up to the bank.

“I wonder if we can get home.”

“Let’s walk, we’ll get there.”
